Iowa Teachers Broaden Momentum for Computer Science Education

117 Iowans attended the 2022 CSTA Annual Conference in Chicago.

As a new basic skill, the demand for computer science education is rapidly growing. To enhance and support the advancement of computer science education in Iowa schools, the STEM Council and Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Iowa partnered to send 117 Iowans to attend the 2022 CSTA Annual Conference. Iowans to Take Part in Computer Science Education Week

Computer Science events and activities will take place across the six Iowa STEM regions during CSEdWeek from December 6-12.
Computer science and information technology are becoming essential life skills due to an increasingly digital society. As one of the fastest growing career paths, computer science jobs are in high demand in Iowa.

In February 2014, ancient history by STEM time, the Governor's STEM Advisory Council launched a Computer Science (CS) Working Group to develop a set of recommendations to the STEM Council that would engage more Iowa youth in computer science, including programming and app development.
